Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Linkway ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and handles information when you use our canvassing and volunteer coordination service. We've written it to be plain and specific, not generic boilerplate.

1. What Linkway does

Linkway is a canvassing and volunteer coordination tool for small political campaigns and nonprofits. Campaign organizers create a Linkway account, and volunteers use a shared link to log canvass contacts and voter interactions from their phones or computers.

2. Information we collect

2a. Account and campaign setup

When you create a Linkway campaign, we collect:

• Your email address (via Google Sign-In)
• Your organization or campaign name
• Your chosen campaign slug (a short identifier used in your campaign's URL)
• Campaign type (political campaign, nonprofit, or other)

We use this information to create your campaign entry in our registry and to send you a welcome email with your campaign's volunteer sign-in link.

2b. Google Drive access (organizer)

During campaign setup, we request permission to create a file in your Google Drive (drive.file scope). We use this permission to create a new, blank campaign spreadsheet directly in your Google Drive, and to share that spreadsheet with Linkway's service account so canvass data and volunteer information can be written to it. This scope can only interact with files created during your setup session — it cannot read, modify, or access any other files in your Drive. Once setup is complete, the spreadsheet belongs entirely to your Google account, and you can view, share, export, or delete it at any time from Google Drive without involving Linkway.

2c. Volunteer sign-in and volunteer list management

When a volunteer signs in with Google to use the canvassing tool, we verify their email address against the Approved Volunteers list stored in your campaign's spreadsheet. We do not store volunteer email addresses on our own servers; the list lives in your Google Sheet.

Campaign organizers can also add volunteers directly from the app. When you do, the email, name, and role you enter are written to the Approved Volunteers tab in your own Google Sheet via our service account — the same way canvass data is written (see Section 2d below). We do not retain a separate copy of this information on our servers.

2d. Canvass activity

All canvass logs (doors knocked, voter contacts, support ratings, notes) are written directly to your campaign's Google Sheet. Linkway does not retain a separate copy of this data. Your campaign spreadsheet is the single source of truth, and it lives in your Google Drive.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and identify your campaign account
• Route your volunteers' canvass submissions to your campaign's spreadsheet
• Add volunteers to your campaign's Approved Volunteers list at your request, writing directly to your Google Sheet
• Send you a one-time welcome email with your campaign's volunteer link
• Respond to support requests if you contact us

We do not use your information for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with anyone except as described in this policy.

4. Data storage and security

Linkway maintains a campaign registry (a Google Sheet we control) that stores your campaign slug, organization name, campaign type, email address, and the ID of your campaign's Google Sheet. This registry is used solely to route requests to the correct customer spreadsheet.

All canvass data and volunteer lists live in your own Google Drive account, protected by Google's security infrastructure. We access your Sheet only through a service account with write access limited to the file we created during setup.

5. Google API services

Linkway uses Google APIs, including Google Sign-In for authentication and the Google Drive API for campaign setup. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

• We use the drive.file scope only to create a new campaign spreadsheet in the organizer's Drive and to share it with our service account. We do not read, modify, or access any other Drive files.
• We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the Linkway service.
• We do not use Google user data for advertising purposes.
• We do not allow humans to read user data unless you have explicitly requested support from us and granted us access, or it is required for security or legal compliance.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your campaign registry entry (slug, org name, email, Sheet ID) is retained while your campaign is active. If you want your campaign removed from our registry and wish to delete your data, email us at the address below. Your campaign spreadsheet in Google Drive is yours to delete at any time — deleting it does not require contacting us.

7. Children's privacy

Linkway is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top. Continued use of Linkway after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
